Products made in the Upper Peninsula rarely get a chance to be found on any of the search engines, especially Google. Many citizens living right here in the United States have no idea that there exists an Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I have seen maps displayed on various television stations showing the U.S. states, while leaving the U.P. totally unidentified.

The Upper Peninsula has an area of over 16,000 square miles with only around 300,000 people residing year round. It consists of 29 percent of the total land in Michigan, and only 3 percent of the population. Mining, logging, and tourism are the main industries in the U.P. With annual snowfall between 100-250 inches, you may begin to understand why the population density is so low. Most of the residents, (called Yoopers) enjoy a  lower population, as it preserves the natural beauty and makes it easy for highway travel without any traffic jams.

Another amazing fact about the people in the Upper Peninsula is how many of them are blessed with creativity. Artists, musicians, craft-creators, writers and inventors are more numerous than the average person would believe. This is one of the reasons why this blog site has been created. The rest of the world would benefit from many of the products that are made here. There are so many products, that I will be creating more sites just to cover the huge variety.

Even though the chain restaurants have been slowly migrating to the area, there are hundreds of privately owned eating establishments that offer food that would rival the “big city” restaurants. The motels and hotels are some of the cleanest in the states, with their staff so friendly that you may wonder if you are part of their immediate family. This is a huge asset to the local tourism industry.

I have discovered the art of SEO (search engine optimization) after meeting a few people in this business that were willing to offer me some formal training.  Some of their keywords that have made it to the first page of Google are: weight watchers, business, nutrisystem, Chicago restaurants, Minneapolis Minnesota, plus many more. An goal that I have set for this blog is the keyword Upper Peninsula. During training, I chose the keyword IObit. This is a large antivirus and computer software company. To my surprise, my blog was on the first page of Google in less than six weeks.

With that being said, if you happen to find this blog about the Upper Peninsula on the first page of Google, please tell your friends that create products or own businesses. The whole world may discover what they have invested much of their lifetime in. One suggestion is, once you start to achieve success with your Upper Peninsula product or business in the world of cyberspace, please try to stay humble and always be a “Yooper”.
